Thirty five inches is long even in this category, and the stretch takes it to 42. On most legs that means they sit high on the thigh rather than just above the knee, which is the whole reason to buy a thigh high rather than a knee sock.
Sixty percent acrylic yarn, 25 percent stretch yarn, 15 percent polyester. The high acrylic share is what makes the knit soft and what keeps the price where it is; it also means these pill a little at the ankle over a season of heavy wear.
A thigh garter belt ships with the socks and buckles above the cuff. Acrylic has no grip of its own, so on a full day the belt earns its place.
Classic black, snow white and coffee sit next to mustard yellow, salmon pink, whole wheat and army green. The muted browns and greens are the ones that turn up least often elsewhere.
