A sleeveless summer maxi with a plain crewneck and a tiered skirt, cut in the extended range we work in. The jersey is a polyester and spandex blend that hangs away from the body rather than clinging to it, and there are pockets in the side seams. It is the piece people come back to when the weather turns hot and nothing with sleeves feels tolerable.

We knit this one in a light polyester and spandex blend, 95 per cent to 5, so the skirt keeps moving after you stop. The tiers are gathered rather than pleated, which is what gives the hem its weight without adding bulk at the waist. Nothing here is lined, and in strong sunlight a pale colourway will read as lighter than it does indoors.
Our chart runs five rows and gives bust, waist and back length in inches for every one of them. XL is graded for a 16 to 18 with a 42.3 bust, and 5XL takes a 26 to 28 with a 55.7 bust. Back length barely moves across the range, from 48.8 to 50.4, so the hem sits at roughly the same point on most heights.
Two side seam pockets, deep enough for a phone and keys together rather than the shallow decoration that comes sewn into most summer dresses. They sit in the first tier, so weight in them pulls the skirt down flat instead of bunching it. If you carry nothing, the opening lies closed and the seam reads as an ordinary one.
Seven colourways, from plain black through sunflower and the blue and white florals. Machine wash is what we grade it for, and the tiers come out of the drum needing very little attention. The rating sits at 4.5 from 111 people, which for a summer dress in this range is the highest agreement we have on any piece we cut.
