The surface is brushed, so it catches the light differently depending on which way you run a hand across it. Underneath it is a polyester and spandex blend, 95 to 5, which is what stops the skirt from going stiff and boxy the way suede substitutes often do. It holds its shape through repeated wear without needing to be pressed back into line.
The straps are broad and sit flat on the shoulder, and the buckles let you set the drop so the bib lands where you want it over whatever you are wearing underneath. Setting them longer in winter for a thick jumper and shorter in autumn for a shirt is the whole point of the hardware. They do not slip through on their own during the day.
The body is loose through the waist and the skirt widens from there, so sitting and walking are easy and there is room for a bump if you are wearing it through a pregnancy. The hem is wide, from 64.2 inches at the smallest size to 76.8 at the largest, which is where the swing comes from. Two front pockets take a phone and a lipstick.
Black, army green and brown. Our chart runs five rows with waist, hem and length in inches: a 47.6 waist at XL for a 16 to 18, and a 60.2 waist at 5XL for a 28. Length moves only from 24 to 25.6 inches, so this is a midi on most frames and shorter than that if you are tall.
